SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - Summer power usage in Texas is expected to reach an all-time high as temperatures rise and demand on the electric grid increases.

David McGinnis, CEO of Grayson-Collin Electric Co-op, said the state's rapid growth is driving the surge."It's one of the fastest growing states in the nation. We serve one of the fastest growing areas in the nation, so we could expect higher consumption," McGinnis said.

Grid under stressERCOT says Texas could demand as much as 92 gigawatts of power this summer.
