As the volume of veteran benefit claims continues to increase, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is planning to hire over 2,000 employees across the country to process claims in the coming years.

The VA says it currently has more than 13,000 employees who processed a record-high 3. 1 million compensation and pension claims in fiscal year 2026, processing them with the highest accuracy rate in three years - 93. 88% - with only 3. 2% of claims decisions appealed to the Board of Veterans' Appeals.

As the VA continues its campaign to reach millions of un-enrolled veterans and ensure it can keep processing claims efficiently, the department is encouraging veterans and others to apply for a career as a VA claims processor.
