LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - The City of Lubbock has broken ground on a bond project to widen and rebuild Upland Ave. on the west side of the city.
The project will expand Upland Avenue from a two-lane, undivided road to a five-lane roadway between 34th and 50th St. City leaders said the work is designed to address street flooding, narrow lanes, and pedestrian safety concerns.
Jennifer Wilson, who represents Lubbock City Council District 5, said the improvements will include new drainage infrastructure, sidewalks, and safety upgrades."So you can expect to see brand new drainage out here to make sure that we don't have water pooling on the road, new infrastructure in with sidewalks for people to be able to walk and just safety aspects," Wilson said.
