The Border Organization, a political group that operates between Del Rio and Uvalde, will host a candidate forum from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Herby Ham Activity Center.

Organizers have invited candidates for county commissioner, county judge and city council to participate in a roundtable discussion focused on establishing a domestic violence shelter, providing trauma-informed training for all county employees, including law enforcement, and fully funding and improving the county elderly nutrition center.

Other topics will include improving emergency response in Uvalde Estates and ensuring all street signs are in place, improving maintenance of city parks, and addressing drainage and street repairs on the west and southwest sides of the city.
