LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - The Lubbock Health Department is warning of West Nile virus detection in the area.

The Biological Threat Research Lab at Texas Tech notified the health department that some mosquitoes have tested positive.

The virus is picked up by mosquitoes from infected birds and then transmitted to humans through bites.
