TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - One Tyler church brought caregivers, seniors and community providers together to learn how to spot warning signs of elder abuse.
More than 80 people registered for the seminar at St. Louis Baptist Church, and additional drop-ins filled the room, with presentations including information from the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, the Better Business Bureau and medical experts."We think it's a good turnout," said co-organizer Bettye Mitchell, who is part of the church's comfort care ministry.
"We want not just for our church, but our community to be aware of these services."Mitchell said elder abuse can take many forms, including physical, psychological, sexual and financial, and speakers stressed that abuse can come from family members or strangers.
