LUFKIN, Texas (KLTV) - Angelina County residents packed Tuesday's monthly commissioners court meeting to push back against a proposed artificial intelligence data center.

While the facility can move forward without a permit, commissioners said they are considering a tax abatement agreement as leverage for safeguards.

Proposed conditions include requiring the company to maintain a public website for the project; to report annual energy use, thermal impact and noise control; and to help fund local services such as the volunteer fire department and county road and bridge maintenance.
