A loophole in the state legislature allowed Taylor city council members to balk on voting on an amendment regarding data centers Thursday evening.

In an overflow crowd at Taylor City Hall, 400 Porter St., council members announced state law prohibited them from making a zoning decision based on popular vote.

This led most of the crowd, including the 25 people who spoke in open forum about the issue, upset.
