William Whitson, senior disaster consultant with Kerr Together, said the immediate mission coming out of the July 16 flood is long-term recovery.

"We were fortunate and blessed not to have the level of mortality or loss of life that we had in the first disaster," Whitson said.

"So now we're focused on property damage, business assistance, all of the individual assistance. And we are, of course, needing to see what the federal government will do in terms of their (disaster) declaration." James David Herd is the Managing Editor of the Kerrville Daily Times.
