TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Snake season is ramping up across East Texas, and experts say knowing what to look for - and when to simply back away - can help people stay safe.

East Texas is home to more than 30 snake species, according to Caldwell Zoo reptile keeper Dallas Goodwin.

Five of those species are venomous, including rattlesnakes, coral snakes, cottonmouths and copperheads.
