BRYAN, Texas - Brazos County District Clerk Gabriel Garcia was booked into the Brazos County Jail at 11:33 a.m. Friday on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, jail officials confirmed.

Garcia's arrest followed an investigation by the Texas Rangers, according to a county statement.

Authorities said the charges are not related to his duties or position as district clerk.
