LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Gov. Greg Abbott has reappointed Dr. Surendra Varma to the Texas Medical Board's District Three Review Committee, according to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

The Texas Medical Board protects public health and safety by setting standards for the practice of medicine and helping ensure quality care for Texans."We have been fortunate to have Dr. Varma and his dedication to academic medicine for over 50 years at our university, not only in this leadership role at the School of Medicine but as an excellent physician for our patients," said John C. DeToledo, executive vice president for clinical affairs and School of Medicine dean at TTUHSC.

"He has a great commitment to medicine, and he will continue to bring a wealth of expertise to the Texas Medical Board District Three Review Committee."Varma has worked at TTUHSC since 1974 and established the university's Pediatric Endocrinology Division that year, the university said.
