(KGNS) - The Laredo Police Department is rolling out two safety initiatives from Oct. 30 through Nov. 1 to protect trick-or-treaters and partygoers across the city.

The department is partnering with the Webb County District Attorney's Office and Doctors Hospital for a "no-refusal" enforcement operation targeting suspected drunken driving.

Under the initiative, if an officer stops a driver on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and the motorist refuses a breath test, a judge will be on standby around the clock to issue an immediate search warrant for a blood draw.
