WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Former Williamson County attorney Jason Nassour and former Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody filed a federal civil rights lawsuit Thursday against Travis County District Attorney Jos Garza and Williamson County District Attorney Shawn Dick, Williamson County Assistant District Attorney Michael Waldman, Travis County Assistant District Attorney Dexter Gilford, as well as Williamson and Travis counties, alleging a politically motivated prosecution that lasted nearly six years before collapsing at trial.
The lawsuit, filed July 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, Waco Division, claims the Travis and Williamson County DAs and prosecutors charged Nassour and Chody with evidence tampering over Live PD footage that was owned exclusively by Big Fish Entertainment, a New York-based media production company.
The case was filed in Waco Federal court since the court has jurisdiction because the Waco division is with the Federal Western District of Texas which includes Travis and Williamson county.
