-- Hundreds of thousands of people in Alabama and the Florida Panhandle were without power early Saturday after Isaias crashed into the U.S. Gulf Coast as a dangerous hurricane and left flooded roads and downed trees in its wake as it moved inland.

At 2 a.m. ET, the National Hurricane Center declared Isaias a post-tropical cyclone -- a system that no longer possesses characteristics of a tropical system.

Since Isaias has weakened to below tropical storm strength, all storm surge and tropical storm alerts have been discontinued.
