A clap of thunder mistaken for a gunshot prompted a multi-school lockdown and a multi-agency police response, according to Magnolia Independent School District officials.
The district said that a teacher at Williams Elementary called 911 shortly before 1 p.m. on Thursday and reported hearing gunfire.
The Precinct 5 Constable's Office and the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office both responded, and the report prompted several MISD schools to go into lockdown, officials said.
