Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Division of Emergency Management are reviewing a decision from FEMA not to grant individual assistance or hazard mitigation for counties affected by the July 2026 floods.

They are in the process of appealing it, according to a statement from the governor's office.

Under federal guidelines, the state has 30 days from the date of the formal notification to submit additional supporting data and file an official appeal.
