In a split, 4-3 decision, the New Braunfels City Council approved the forgiveness of a remaining loan balance from the New Braunfels National Airport to the New Braunfels Economic Development Corporation.

Mayor Michael French and Councilmembers Toni Carter and Nikki Shaw were opposed, Councilmembers Michael Capizzi, D. Lee Edwards, Lawrence Spradley and Mary Ann Labowski voted in favor.

The airport's remaining balance totals $644,770 of the $1. 2 million that was granted by the EDC in 2015 to "support a taxiway extension project to allow for additional hangar construction and increased based aircraft space," the loan forgiveness contract states.
