An investigation is underway after an unofficial mascot at Lake Texoma was killed on the islands over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Witnesses told authorities that "Rusty the Rooster" was beaten to death by children.

Marshall County Sheriff Donald Yow said his office is looking into the incident.
