Gillespie County officials are not recommending a burn ban at this time despite drying vegetation and fuels, saying current fire danger indicators do not warrant issuing the restriction.

The Gillespie County Fire Marshal and county officials have been monitoring vegetation and fire threat conditions since June and continue to monitor conditions as July is projected to bring warmer temperatures and drier weather.

Despite above-average rainfall in 2026, vegetation and fuels are beginning to dry out slowly in the summer months.
