TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) - Temple ISD partnered with Workforce Solutions of Central Texas for their Wrenches to Wheels program.

Over a dozen Temple middle schoolers paired up with mentors to build their own bikes.

Sara Bartlett, CTE director for Temple ISD, said the experience is about more than just a free bike."This gives our students an opportunity to interact with a mentor in the community, who is already working in industry, and work through the process of building a bike. That can be a challenging thing for people to do. So, it provides opportunities for us to work through those communication skills and enhance their transferable skills," Bartlett said.
