GAINESVILLE, Texas (KXII) - Gainesville broke ground Thursday on a pedestrian infrastructure project aimed at connecting portions of the city.
The project, fully funded by a TxDOT grant, will create a pedestrian corridor that will link Gainesville High School, NCTC, the Frank Buck Zoo, Leonard Park, Moffett Park and downtown Gainesville.
Improvements coming as part of the project include a six-foot-wide sidewalk along FM 1306 and West California Street, along with upgraded traffic signals and other safety features."Projects like this demonstrate the value of taking a long-term approach to infrastructure planning," City Manager Barry Sullivan said.
