With the league favorite and second-ranked team in the state in their rear view mirror, the Bangs Dragons have set their sights on the rest of the District 7-2A Division I slate as they look to earn a second consecutive postseason berth.

For the first time since Sept. 11, Bangs (3-3, 0-1) is back at Memorial Stadium Friday night as they host the rival Coleman Bluecats at 7 p.m., who are coming off a 40-14 victory over Brady in their league opener and have won five of their first six contests.

Reflecting on last week's 51-0 loss to No. 2 Mason to kick off district action, Bangs third-year head coach Colton Buzzard said, "It was a good first test for us in district, and good to play them first and not last. They're a really good team, solid across the board. Their offensive line and defensive line can play one way and that's pretty special to be able to do that in Class 2A. But our physicality in the second and third quarters, I was pleased with that. In the first quarter we were kind of wide-eyed and it took us a while to play to their pace. When we settled down there we some good things defensively I saw on film, so going forward I think that's going to make us a better football team." Coleman (5-1, 1-0), meanwhile, is coming off a 26-point triumph over winless Brady, a game in which the Bluecats pulled away in the fourth quarter.
