WACO, Texas (KWTX) - The Waco Police Department and McLennan County Sheriff's Office are warning residents about scammers posing as law enforcement and demanding money, according to the departments.

According to Waco police, scammers are calling, texting and emailing victims claiming to be WPD or MCSO and asking for immediate payment for outstanding traffic violations, warrants or tickets.

Police say these are scams, adding agencies will never ask for immediate payment over the phone.
