LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - The Lubbock NAACP is hosting an event Thursday evening for teens to learn about the history of voting rights and what they need to know when they are old enough to vote.

Below is information provided by the NAACP:The Lubbock NAACP is holding the "Own Your Power" voting event for teens in Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 5:30 to 7:00 at the MCM Elegante at 801 Avenue Q. Young adults from the ages of 14-19 are invited to attend an upcoming workshop where they will learn the history of the struggle other generations have made to secure the right to vote.

Plus, they will learn the nuts-and-bolts information that is needed when going to the polls.
