The book "Allegedly" by Tiffany D. Jackson will not return to New Braunfels Independent School District library shelves following a 6-1 vote from the board of trustees on June 15, ultimately rejecting a committee recommendation to retain the book.
Following the implementation of Senate Bill 13, trustees have taken on a new role in the library acquisition process, including approving lists of new materials to be added to library shelves, and now, holding the final decision on whether or not to remove challenged books.
SB13 prohibits the inclusion of materials in school libraries that are deemed indecent, profane or harmful.
