FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas - Fort Bend County Judge Daniel Wong is pushing back against claims that he no longer has the authority to lead county government and is scheduled to address the controversy during a Thursday afternoon press conference.

Wong announced he will hold a press conference at noon Thursday at the Historic Courthouse in Richmond, where he is expected to discuss what he calls "improper actions" by the Fort Bend County Attorney and several members of Commissioners Court who have questioned his authority to conduct county business and carry out the duties of the county judge's office.

The press conference comes one day after the county attorney stated that Wong no longer has authority to serve as interim county judge.
