Tivy (2-0, 5-0) overcame, adapted and persevered through a brutal shootout with No. 4 state-ranked Comal Davenport (1-1, 3-2) Friday night at Wolves Stadium, securing a 70-66 win in a game that saw the Antlers post 789 yards of total offense, highlighted by seven touchdowns from senior running back Aiden Zavala and a solid performance by the Tivy defense.
The win held great meaning for the Antlers, who still felt the sting from last year's devastating loss to the Wolves at the same stadium.
"It was the biggest loss of my career last year on this field," coach Curtis Neill said.
