Residents in Stockdale this morning woke to no hot water and no way to cook breakfast, due to a gas leak.

City Manager Stephen Mayfield told the Wilson County News that a city council member who lives in the vicinity of Eighth Street alerted him to the situation around 10 p.m. Wednesday night, July 22. "He smelled gas, and called me," Mayfield said.

The city is in the middle of a gas leak-detection survey; since that crew is already in town, they turned out to assist the city in trying to locate the leak, Mayfield said.
