Beginning in January 2027, the city of Kerrville will be switching from the 2018 to the 2024 International Building Codes and from the 2017 to 2023 National Electric Code.

Aaron Barnes, the chief building official for the city of Kerrville, broke down the main changes that affect most Hill Country contractors and homeowners.

"Jan. 1, new permanent applications will need to be designed to the 2024 building codes, and that needs to be stamped on those plans," Barnes said.
