East Texas (KLTV) - East Texas is expected to dry out after days of rain, but residents may soon face a new problem: mosquitoes.

City of Tyler officials and pest control experts say the recent wet weather has created ideal breeding conditions, and they are urging homeowners to eliminate standing water and protect pets from heartworms.

Mary Fowler with the City of Tyler's animal control said crews have been working since spring to keep mosquito numbers down on public property.
