McLENNAN COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) - McLennan County deputies arrested a 64-year-old man accused of trying to abandon three puppies Sunday evening, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by KWTX.

The court document states deputies were called to the 900 block of Remington Circle shortly after 5 p.m. July 19 after a woman reported seeing a white Chevrolet Silverado stop in front of her home.

The witness told investigators a man later identified as Jose Aviles Ruiz, 64, got out of the truck with three small white dogs, led them toward a ditch, then went back to the driver's seat.
