GATESVILLE, Texas (KWTX) - Gatesville police said a 9-month-old child was taken to the hospital after officers responding to a welfare check observed signs of "extreme malnourishment" at a home Monday night.
Officers were dispatched around 8:45 p.m. July 20 to the 100 block of North 27th Street after a caller reported concerns that the infant was not being cared for and appeared malnourished, according to the Gatesville Police Department.
Coryell Health EMS was called to the scene and transported the child to Baylor Scott & White McLane Children's Medical Center in Temple.
