BEXAR COUNTY, Texas - Luz Elena Chapa is preparing to make history as the first Latina district attorney in Bexar County, but she says her focus goes beyond the milestone to the work ahead.

Chapa said her election represents generations of people who helped pave the way.

"I think about the generations who came before me, who fought for this moment, who paved the way ... and I'm embracing it with every inch of my being," Chapa said.
