A hearing Monday granted Outer Loop Utility the right to take possession of an easement across Davenport High School property, clearing a key hurdle for a proposed natural gas pipeline despite continued opposition from Comal ISD.

The Outer Loop Utility Project is an approximately 60-mile new natural gas pipeline designed to connect local gas supply to existing energy infrastructure in San Antonio and surrounding areas, according to the project's website.

Howard Energy Partners contacted CISD regarding the project in late 2025, the district said in a statement shared with families and staff on Monday.
