BURLESON COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) - If you're gathering birdseed for backyard feeders, chances are you've bought black oil sunflowers, and in early June, those same sunflowers were on full display across parts of Burleson County.
Jay Wilder, a farmer near the Snook and Tunis communities, said this is his seventh year growing sunflowers, adding the crop as a way to diversify when commodity prices dipped.
"It just gave us more diversification," Wilder said.
