TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Volunteers with East Texas Meals on Wheels and People Assisting the Homeless (PATH) helped keep their neighbors safe Wednesday during the fifth annual Beat the Heat Fan Distribution.

Recipients expressed gratitude for the fans, including one woman who has lived without air conditioning for some time.

"Many of our clients do not have the ability to turn on their air or even have central A/C and heating," said East Texas Meals on Wheels Executive Director Tiffany McPherson.
