(KGNS) - Low-income seniors in Webb County will no longer have to choose between feeding themselves or their pets through a new partnership between Meals on Wheels and Pets Alive Laredo.

Backed by a $15,000 donation, the initiative brings volunteers from both organizations together to deliver more than 3,000 pounds of pet food alongside home-cooked meals for homebound older adults.

Organizers expect the program to serve more than 60 seniors and more than 65 companion animals across Webb County.
