HIGHLANDS, Texas - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will hold a public meeting Tuesday to update residents on the cleanup of the San Jacinto River Waste Pits Superfund site.

The meeting is scheduled for 6 to 7:45 p.m. at the San Jacinto Community Center, 604 Highland Woods Drive, in Highlands.

The meeting is the first EPA-hosted public update since the agency approved construction plans for the Northern Impoundment and issued a federal order directing International Paper and Waste Management subsidiary McGinnes Industrial Maintenance Corp. to carry out the cleanup.
