The city of Uvalde, KABOOM! and El Progreso Memorial Library will organize a volunteer workday Aug. 22 to help reopen Memorial and Studer parks following July flooding.

Volunteers will meet at Memorial Park at 8:30 a.m. to replace and rake mulch before moving to Studer Park around noon.

City parks and recreation manager Gloria Resma said the flooding damaged parks that community members had helped build.
