ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) - Odessa Geek Fest is back at the Ector County Coliseum this weekend for its third year, bringing together anime lovers, gamers and pop-culture fans for a convention built around community - and organizers say this year could be their biggest yet.

Co-founder Alecta Carter, CEO of Sukeban, has been in the convention business for about a decade, helping manage roughly 30 events across the country.

She said Odessa Geek Fest is focused on creating a welcoming, safe space for fans of all backgrounds."Geek Fest is good for the community because we are able to bring in and create a safe space for basically anyone who thought they were a weirdo growing up," Carter said.
