Nearly two dozen people charged in Montgomery County retail theft operation

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office arrested 23 people and recovered thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise during a four-day retail theft operation in early August.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas - The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said a targeted, 4-day operation led to 23 arrests.

Deputies also recovered thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise.

The sheriff's office Crime Reduction Unit said deputies worked with local retailers and loss-prevention teams from Aug. 4 through Aug. 7 to monitor commercial areas, identify suspected shoplifters and apprehend suspects.
