The Comal County Democratic Party released a statement regarding an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) involved shooting that occurred in Austin on Sept. 20.

The victim was identified by his immigration lawyer, Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch, as 28-year-old Wilber Rafael Garces Perez of Venezuela, the Texas Tribune reported.

According to Lincoln-Goldfinch, Garces Perez entered the country legally and holds a valid work permit.
