BELTON, Texas (KWTX) - Belton held its first Juneteenth parade Thursday as celebrations took place across Central Texas.

Event organizer Ramona Clark, who is also the director of the Heart of Texas Miss Juneteenth Scholarship Pageant, said she is proud to have helped make the event happen."It had literally touched my heart to know that one of our ancestors just had happened. That we would actually walk the main streets of Belton and the could actually celebrate on Juneteenth," Clark said.

The parade fit into the theme of this year's pageant, which Clark said was living their ancestor's dream."I said, let's make this a pageant for the community that has never had an organized Juneteenth celebration," Clark said.
