CANTON, Texas (KLTV) - The Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office held a news conference Friday to offer new details shooting deaths that have rocked the community.

According to Sheriff Kevin Bridger, around 10:22 p.m., Deputy Adam Sherifi, Deputy Brandon Fontenot and Canton police Officer Chris Watson were attempting to serve two felony arrest warrants on Mi Van Nguyen, 42, when Nguyen opened fire from inside his residence with a semi-automatic rifle.

Mi Van Nguyen, 42,(Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office)Bridger said Nguyen fired over 800 rounds at the group."Tuesday night was an act of pure evil," Bridger said.
