TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - With Independence Day weekend approaching, AAA expects a record number of Texans to travel by car, prompting mechanics to remind drivers that a quick preventative maintenance check can help keep families safe and avoid breakdowns.

AAA projects 5. 7 million people in Texas will travel during the Fourth of July week.

About 85% are expected to drive, according to AAA."That will be a new record for Independence Day travel for the Lone Star State," AAA spokesperson Daniel Armbruster said.
