ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) - Keep Odessa Beautiful is back with its annual Recycled Fashion Show on Friday, and this year's theme is "Rebirth in Pink."Fashion designer Griselda Melendez of La Catrina and Company created 10 looks for this year's show using materials she found at thrift stores.

Melendez says attendees can expect to see functional, wearable garments - including pieces made out of curtains - designed to show how old clothing can get a second life."They can expect to see garments that are made out of curtains and they are going to see a garment that is functional, you can actually wear," Melendez said.

"I want them to see how they can transform garments that they already have in their closets and give them another life without having to buy and then make more pollution."Melendez says upcycled fashion is better for the environment because it reduces waste and cuts down on pollution from buying new.
