HILLSBORO, Texas (KWTX) - Nearly 30 volunteers gathered at the Red Boot Retreat Center Tuesday for a sew day, working to create 15 to 20 quilts in a few hours.
Sandy Kleypas and Donna Levesque lead the Texas Patriotic Peacemakers, a local Quilts of Valor group.
They oversee the volunteers as they sew, iron and cut fabric to create handmade quilts for veterans and active duty service members."Quilts are not made overnight. It takes a lot of time and effort and work to put a quilt top together and then get it quilted and bound and labeled and assigned," Kleypas said.
