TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) - Voters in Temple will decide in November whether to approve a bond to rebuild the Sammons Community Center, which has served as a gathering place for seniors since 1921.

The city closed the center in March of last year because of structural damage.

At a Temple City Council bond meeting, a council member described how the damage was discovered."Sammons was closed after significant structural concerns were uncovered following the May 2024 tornado event," the council member said at the meeting.
