MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) - The City of Midland Health Services has confirmed the first case this year of St. Louis encephalitis virus (SLEV) in a mosquito.
According to officials, Midland Health Services placed mosquito traps throughout the county and the Texas Department of State Health Services laboratory tested the mosquitoes for diseases.
The city is now asking people to take steps to reduce mosquito bites.
